Switzerland, a country where all of the food is fresh, flavorful, beautifully presented, locally grown and harvested but extremely expensive.
A small country that looks inward to support itself. Produce is seasonal, animals are native and the price tag is high. Would we Americans make such sacrifices to support our own people? It’s a tough question when we really seek the true response.
It sound great in theory, but when we want it we want it now! Let the other guy but local and pay more! I want ripe peaches with delicious flavor in February! Needless to say, it’s something for us all to work towards, or at very least be aware of the impact of the choices we do make.
Do you sacrifice your desires to buy local and eat local ingredients throughout the seasonal year? Let me know.
